RBC Avion Rewards has four airline partners. Three of which are worth considering: British Airways, Cathay Pacific, and American Airlines.
WestJet is also available; however, at 1 cent per point, it’s essentially equivalent to booking directly with RBC Avion in the bank’s portal with no additional value.
With British Airways and its oneworld network, you’ll be able to book flights with many airlines worldwide to Europe, Asia, and Oceania, at a fraction of the cash price.
My favourite use of RBC Avion Rewards points is transferring them to airline partners like British Airways to book business class flights for nearly free.

Transfer RBC Avion Rewards to British Airways Avios
British Airways Avios is one of the valuable airline partners to transfer your RBC Avion Rewards points and redeem for flights.
You can transfer your points at a 1-to-1 ratio, and transfers usually take a few days, though they’re sometimes faster.
With Avios, you can redeem your points for flights with many oneworld and Avios partner airlines, including Qatar Airways, Iberia, Finnair, Aer Lingus, and Fiji Airways. Keep in mind that you’ll need to fly from Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver via one of the airline’s hubs such as London, Helsinki, or Madrid.
You can redeem your points for some of the best flights to Europe for as low as 60,000 points in business class and 20,000 points in economy.
We transferred 120,000 American RBC Avion Rewards points to British Airways Avios and booked a direct business class flight with Aer Lingus from Toronto to Dublin this summer.
It was only 60,000 Avios points plus $228 in taxes each for my husband and me.
Transfer RBC Avion Rewards to Cathay Pacific
Cathay Pacific Asia Miles is another valuable airline partner to transfer your RBC Avion Rewards points and redeem for flights to Asia.
You can transfer your points at a 1-to-1 ratio. RBC lists transfer times of up to four weeks, but most transfers show up within a week.
This makes RBC one of the best ways to reach Asia Miles in Canada, since American Express Membership Rewards only transfer to Cathay Pacific at a weaker 1-to-0.75 ratio.
With Cathay Pacific Asia Miles, you can redeem your points for direct flights to Hong Kong from Vancouver and Toronto, plus onward to Asia, like Japan.
Business class award availability with Cathay Pacific can be tricky to find, but you’ll have plenty of premium economy availability starting at 78,000 miles plus $215 in taxes and fees.
Transfer RBC Avion Rewards to American Airlines
RBC Avion Rewards is the only Canadian program that transfers to American Airlines AAdvantage, making it a unique way to earn these miles.
You can transfer your points at a 1-to-0.7 ratio, with a 5,000 point minimum. Transfers usually take a few days, though RBC lists up to four weeks.
American Airlines moved to dynamic pricing on its own flights, so award costs can swing widely based on demand.
Partner awards on other oneworld airlines still use a fixed chart, which often gives you better and more predictable value.
This makes AAdvantage miles a good way to book partner airlines like Qatar Airways or Japan Airlines, rather than American Airlines’ own flights.
