Philippine Airlines is officially joining the oneworld alliance, and it’s great news if you earn Avios points in Canada.
The announcement came on June 6, 2026, and full membership is expected in 2027. You’ll be able to redeem Avios points on Philippine Airlines flights to Manila and beyond, including plenty of island destinations across the Philippines.
Philippine Airlines flies directly to Manila from both Toronto and Vancouver. That means Canadians will soon have a straightforward way to redeem points for nearly free travel to one of Southeast Asia’s most popular destinations.
You can earn Avios points by transferring from RBC Avion or American Express Membership Rewards.

Philippine Airlines is officially becoming the 16th member of the oneworld alliance, bookable with Avios points. Full membership is expected in 2027, following the announcement made on June 6, 2026.
You’ll be able to redeem your Avios for 31 new destinations across the Philippines. That includes Manila and plenty of island destinations for nearly free.
