How Much are Flying Blue Miles Worth
Flying Blue uses dynamic pricing for award flights, so there isn’t one fixed value for your miles. The value depends on how you redeem them.
You can generally expect around 2 cents per Flying Blue Mile in value when you redeem for flights.
Business Class redemptions with Air France or KLM can deliver much higher value. That’s where miles can save you the most money.
Promo Rewards can offer ou even better value, since they reduce the miles required on select routes for a limited time.

Search for Flights with Flying Blue Miles
To search for flights with Flying Blue miles, log in to your Flying Blue account online or in the mobile site. But not the app.
You can do this through either Air France or KLM, and both platforms show the same flights and pricing.
You don’t need any Flying Blue miles in your account to search. Which makes it easy to check options before you’re ready to book.
For even better results, you can use our guide on how to find Flying Blue award flights to learn how to find wider award space using advanced search tools.
Enter your trip details, including where you’re flying from, your destination, travel dates, number of travellers, and whether it’s a one way or round trip.
Make sure to select the option to book with miles at the top.

You’ll see results showing Flying Blue pricing for available flights with Air France, KLM, and partner airlines.
From the results screen, you can sort by cabin class, departure and arrival time, total duration, or price.
The calendar view is handy to check out other dates.
You’ll see how many miles are required for your ticket in Economy, Premium, and Business.

You can expand your selection to see the associated fees and fare details.
Generally speaking, economy fees are comparable to other programs.

Business class fees are slightly higher, but they’re well worth it for the experience.

AWP TIP
If you don’t see a reward flight on your exact travel date, you can unlock the full monthly calendar by leaving the dates blank in your search.

Redeem for Flights with Air France and KLM
With Air France and KLM, there are no blackout dates or fixed award charts.
You can redeem Flying Blue miles for any flight that has award availability, and the number of miles you need will change based on demand, destination, and cabin class.
Flying Blue redemptions use dynamic pricing. So the miles required will vary day to day, even on the same route.
Air France and KLM offer plenty of options for Canadians, with flights from major cities like Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, and Vancouver. You’ll find good value on both short haul and long haul routes, especially to Europe.
Economy flights between Canada and Europe often start at 25,000 miles one way.
Business class often starts at 60,000 miles, giving you lie flat comfort, excellent service, and great food.
With the monthly Promo Rewards, your award price can drop by twenty five percent. Business class can go as low as 45,000 miles one way.

Last summer, we transferred American Express® Membership Rewards® points during a Flying Blue Promo Reward.
We booked two one-way Business Class seats from Toronto to Europe for 45,000 miles each in peak summer.
It was one of the best ways we’ve ever turned points into an amazing trip.

Redeem Partner Flights
Flying Blue’s partner network gives you access to destinations far beyond Air France and KLM routes.
You can redeem Flying Blue miles across the Caribbean, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and beyond.
Flying Blue doesn’t use a fixed partner award chart. Partner flights price dynamically, so the miles required will change based on route, date, and demand.
Partner awards have limited availability, since each airline controls how many seats they release to Flying Blue.
You’ll find some of the best value with partner flights to Europe and the Middle East in both economy and business class.
If you prefer more trips over premium cabins, partner economy awards can be a great way to stretch your miles even further.
Flying Blue partners open up regions that aren’t always easy to reach with other programs.
Some Flying Blue partners include:
We love transferring American Express® Membership Rewards® points to Flying Blue to redeem for WestJet flights from Toronto to sunny spots like Mexico.
It’s a great value, especially during peak travel like Christmas and March Break.
Cash prices and other rewards programs are high, yet one-way flights can still be found for around 14,000 miles.

Hold Your Reward Booking
Flying Blue lets you place certain award flights on hold while you get your miles ready.
This is a unique feature and an added benefit that Aeroplan doesn’t offer.
You’ll need to call Flying Blue to request the hold. When available, the hold is typically valid for 48 to 72 hours. This gives you time to transfer American Express® Membership Rewards® points into your Flying Blue account before completing the booking.
Once your miles arrive, you can confirm and ticket the reservation at the same price you held.
We once found two business class seats to Europe during peak summer.
Our Membership Rewards® points from a large purchase hadn’t posted yet, so we called Flying Blue and placed the flights on a 48 hour hold.
The points posted the next day, we completed the booking, and secured the same great price without worrying that the seats would disappear.
Change or Cancel Reward Flights
Unlike most low cash fares, where you’d lose the entire ticket, Flying Blue redemptions give you more flexible when your travel plans change.
You can cancel your reward flight for free within 24 hours of booking.
After that, Flying Blue charges a €70 fee per person to change or cancel your ticket. You’ll still get all your miles, taxes, and fees refunded.
The fee is the same for economy, premium economy, and business class.
To make a change or cancellation, just go to “My Bookings” on the Air France or KLM website or app.
Bottom Line
Flying Blue is one of the most valuable airline programs for Canadians. You can redeem Flying Blue miles to travel for far less than paying cash, especially on flights to Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
You can transfer American Express® Membership Rewards® points to Flying Blue, usually instantly. Plus, transfer bonuses make your points go even further and help you earn the miles you need faster.
Redemptions offer strong value and plenty of flexibility. And with monthly Promo Rewards, you’ll often find even lower award prices on popular routes.
If you travel with kids, your Family Account and the 25% child discount on Air France and KLM award tickets, you get to travel even more for less miles.
You can fly to countless destinations worldwide with Air France, KLM, and a wide range of partner airlines.
Flying Blue is a great program for anyone looking to get more value from their points and travel more while spending less.
